Elopements are all about embracing whatever comes and Sonya and Zak’s was no exception. Weather in the mountains can keep us on our toes, it’s not always blue skies and balmy days. But that is all part of the fun! We knew there was a weather front coming before Sonya and Zak’s big day and we chatted beforehand about options to change days. They were amazing, keen to go ahead as planned and ready to deal with anything that happened.
After some family photos by the lake, Scott took them to Big Geordie with great views across Lake Wakatipu and Pig Island for the ceremony. Their willingness to embrace the day was duly rewarded with the BEST stormy skies as a backdrop. As the storm came up the valley they all scooted back into the helicopter and out-raced the rain for the next stop at Skippers. More amazing views down over Shotover River with golden tussocks making a great contract against the black skies.
This was such a fun experience with the coolest couple and another beautiful wedding!
