Hidden Gems – Vanguard Peak

Vanguard Peak (or Mount Vanguard) and the Skippers area is a lesser known location that we love. A short flight from Queenstown Airport over the other side of Coronet Peak. It has an elevation of 1430 metres with 360 degree views of surrounding mountains. From the ridgeline you can look down the valley to the Upper Shotover River. The Peak looks spectacular in winter with snow all around and is relatively easy to walk around with flat areas and golden tussock in summer.
