Expected August weather: August is another reliable winter wedding month with lots of snow everywhere. Temperatures are cold – expect sub zero in the mountains and frosty and icy on the ground. Days are still short but the change is happening. The sun is still low in the sky with lots of soft, flattering light to go around. There won’t be as many waterfalls at Earnslaw Burn as everything freezes, although it’s awe-inspiring all year round. The small alpine lakes like Lake Isobel, Lake Hope and Lake Erskine will be frozen. A thaw is usually starting by the end of the month and snow will start disappearing at lower levels.
