Lake Isobel is a small alpine lake tucked behind Mt Crichton between Queenstown and Glenorchy at 1600m above sea level. It’s a very pretty lake with rocky slopes on one side and a short, tussocky walk to views across Lake Wakatipu on the other. The lake freezes over in the winter months, but you can often find a bit of snow on the slopes and the lake melted during the shoulder seasons. With a relatively short flight distance, it’s another budget-friendly option offering a lake aspect and great views.
