A Spring Helicopter Elopement at Round Hill, Queenstown

If you’re looking for a spring helicopter elopement at Round Hill, Queenstown, that involves two aircraft, a friend-officiated ceremony, a snowball fight, and at least one snowman — you’ve come to the right place. Yasmin and Mason flew in from Australia with a bunch of mates and a plan for a fun shared experience with some epic photographs thrown in. Queenstown delivered the snow, we did the rest.

Two Helicopters Are Better Than One

This wasn’t a just-the-two-of-them job. The couple brought a small crew of friends and family along for the ride so had a second helicopter to get everyone up the mountain. As far as wedding transport upgrades go, it’s hard to top two helicopters full of your favourite people.

The group flew first to Round Hill for the ceremony, then on to a second landing with sweeping views across Lake Wakatipu on the way home. Not a bad way to wrap things up.

A Ceremony That Actually Meant Something

One of their friends acted up as celebrant for a non-legal ceremony that was personal and meaningfu. The legal paperwork was handled back in Australia, so this was purely about the moment: the words, the people, the mountains, and the snow underfoot. There’s something to be said for a ceremony written and delivered by someone who actually knows you.

Snow, Snowmen, and Whisky

Once the formalities were done, it was on. The group built a snowman (solid effort), had a proper snowball fight, and passed around shots of whisky in the snow. There was a lot of laughing. A lot. The vibe was exactly what you’d want from a day like this — relaxed, fun, and completely their own.

The Look

Yasmin wore black — a bold call in a sea of white — and pulled it off completely. Blue hair, a striking bouquet of red roses from The Flower Room, and hair and makeup by Christie from Tussock Hair and Makeup. The contrast against the snow was something else.

About That Weather Reschedule

Spring in Queenstown means the mountains are running the schedule, not us. The original date got pushed due to conditions, and the couple just went with it. That attitude makes such a difference — and frankly, it’s one of the reasons the day worked so well. The snow was worth the wait.

Why We Love This One

We’ve done a lot of elopements. We’ve seen a lot of mountains. But a day like this — two helicopters, a group of great people, a heartfelt ceremony from a mate, whisky in the snow and a couple who came ready to enjoy every bit of it — that’s the kind of elopement that reminds us why we do this.

Yasmin and Mason, you were absolute legends. Thanks for rolling with everything and making it so easy to do our job.

The photos are unbelievable, we cannot thank you and Scott enough for capturing these moments ❤ we have been unable to pick favourites, so I have just been sending people the entire gallery and making them look at all of them! We look at the photos are continuing to say to one another ‘can you believe this was our day!”. And my absolute favourite is there is one shot that everyone without fail says to us “this looks like a scene out of…” insert movie/tv show title. We have had Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings (of course), Twilight, Outlander, and a few others. – Yasmin and Mason
